THE CHALLENGE
WorkBoard created an entirely new solution category to address line of business leaders’ most pressing problem: driving smart, fast growth. Large enterprises like Cisco, Reliance Industries, Samsung, Deutsche Telekom, GE, Transamerica, Cision, and fast-growth companies like Go1, Influitive, Malwarebytes and others use WorkBoard’s Strategy & Results platform to align, measure and drive their strategic priorities and fuel faster growth.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As senior performance engineer, you’ll ensure the WorkBoard platform operates at its best for our global customer base. With implementations that touch every employee in the business and get used daily by the CEO and people across every department, snappy performance on our sophisticated product is crucial. Enable great user experiences by hunting, debugging and fixing bottlenecks and optimizing overall performance on a complex, distributed system and databases with complex data sets.

You’ll put your serious problem-solving chops to work; dig deep on how the system works and modules interplay to master it. Assess performance and prepare tuning strategies for our multi-tenant, multi-server architecture. Design and conduct the right tests for large, complex workloads and data shapes to expose potential bottlenecks and failure points. You’ll take the lead in investigating site performance issues in production and work cross functionally to validate resolutions.

You’ll be a passionate performance evangelist in the company that advises, educates and coaches the dev team on standards, methodologies and how to build for better performance. Use the latest performance analyses tools and develop your own when you need to.

COMING IN
Bring +5 years of experience in performance engineering on enterprise SaaS applications, mastery of database performance, a comprehensive understanding of multi-tier architecture and a BS or MS in computer science.

At WorkBoard, you’ll apply your existing expertise in:

  • Troubleshooting at all layers including application, platform, middleware, databases and the network
  • Implementing load generation, test automation and performance monitoring frameworks
  • Tools for APM to trouble shoot, slice and dice and analytics
  • Tools for product development, rapid deployment, performance profiling, load analysis and tuning at all tiers

Good grounding in security fundamentals, authentication and authorization are important, too. You’ll also need strong communication skills to be a good partner and advisor to engineering peers.

THE TEAM
You’ll join a team where everyone—including you—is striving to constantly improve the quality of experience we provide our customers by delivering at our best and being voracious learners. We are an incredibly supportive team and close to our customers. When problems arise, everyone in the engineering team pitches in. We are excited about a lot of things—what “best” looks like for our customers, what “breakthrough” looks like in engineering—and we share these passions across the company and with our customers. Customers even attend our hackathons, affectionately named WoBoCon.

THE TECH STACK
WorkBoard uses the LAMP stack, the same open-source stack used at facebook and other super high-scale applications. Everyone on the team is adept at PHP and JavaScript programming. WorkBoard makes extensive use of AWS, Node, ElasticSearch, Redshift and Redis within our infrastructure.
